A One-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research and Innovation was successfully organized on November 13, 2025, by the Research Cell, in collaboration with IQAC of Sikkim Government College, Namchi, at the College Auditorium.

The event commenced with an inaugural session, featuring a welcome address by Prof. Chanchal Das, Co-Convenor, Research Cell, Sikkim Government College, Namchi who highlighted the significance of cultivating research aptitude among faculty members and the importance of integrating innovation-driven learning into academic practice. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjaya Subba, Vice Principal, Sikkim Government College, Namchi who delivered an address highlighting the Importance of Research & Innovation with respect to NAAC accreditation and NEP 2020.

Three eminent speakers graced the technical sessions of the programme.

Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit Dutta, Department of Commerce, Sikkim University, delivered an insightful lecture “Research and Publication: A way of Life” on Systematic Research Design and Ethical Publishing Practices, emphasizing the need for methodological rigor and integrity in academic writing.

Dr. Ghanashyam Sharma, The Mountain Institute India, Tadong, Gangtok, focused on Trans-Disciplinary Research and Innovation, providing practical approaches to bridge knowledge sharing within different disciplines and with communities.

Dr. Satadru Jha, Department of Chemistry, SMIT, delivered an inspiring session highlighting that initiating meaningful research does not necessarily require large financial investments. He elaborated on how collaborative research, both within and across institutions, can lead to impactful outcomes even with limited initial funding.

Faculty members from various departments actively participated in the sessions and engaged in interactive discussions. The sessions were designed to enhance participants’ skills in innovative problem-solving and to encourage collaborative research across disciplines.

The FDP reflected the institution’s sustained commitment to academic excellence.
